Two Pillars of Open-Source Multi-Asset Custody
For a long time, Cake Wallet was the only serious mobile multi-coin wallet for Monero. However, Cypher Stack introduced Stack Wallet as a direct competitor, emphasizing strict GPLv3 open-source compliance and support for a different cluster of privacy coins.
1. Supported Asset Clusters
While both support Monero, Bitcoin, and Litecoin, their secondary asset catalogs differ:
- Cake Wallet supports major smart contract platforms (Ethereum, Solana, Tron, Decred) and shielded Zcash (ZEC).
- Stack Wallet targets dedicated privacy networks, including Firo (FIRO), Epic Cash (EPIC), Haven (XHV), and Wownero (WOW).
2. Retail Spend Features
Cake Wallet features **Cake Pay**, an in-app marketplace allowing US-based users to buy gift cards and prepaid debit cards directly with Monero or Litecoin. Stack Wallet has no retail integrations or gift card shopping features. It functions purely as a crypto holding and swap application.
