Android Purism vs. Multi-Coin Accessibility
Both Cake Wallet and Monerujo have played major historical roles in the Monero community. They are open source, secure, and non-custodial. However, Monerujo is built specifically for Android users who prioritize Monero above all else, while Cake Wallet caters to a broader, multi-chain user base.
1. Platform Limits
Monerujo is compiled strictly for Android (available via Google Play and F-Droid). There is no iOS client. Cake Wallet is fully cross-platform, allowing you to use the same interface on iPhone, Android, and desktop.
2. "Pocket to Pocket" Swaps
Cake Wallet has native swap widgets that let you swap BTC/LTC/XMR directly in-app. Monerujo is a Monero-only wallet, but it features a smart integration called "Pocket-to-Pocket." If you scan a Bitcoin QR code, Monerujo will automatically swap your XMR to BTC behind the scenes using third-party APIs (like SideShift or ChangeNOW) to pay the destination address, while maintaining your local holdings in pure Monero.
