Mobile Convenience vs. Desktop Cryptographic Controls
While both wallets are open source, non-custodial, and highly respected, they target fundamentally different environments. Cake Wallet is built for accessibility, while Feather Wallet is built for technical optimization.
1. Networking and Privacy Defaults
Feather Wallet runs all network traffic through Tor by default. When you boot up Feather, it launches its own Tor socket or connects to your local Tor daemon, protecting your IP address from public Monero nodes without extra setup. In contrast, Cake Wallet offers native Tor and I2P support, but you must manually enable it in the network settings.
2. Multi-Coin Ecosystem vs. Monero Purism
Cake Wallet supports a wide range of assets, making it easy to swap Bitcoin or Litecoin directly into Monero. Feather is strictly a Monero (XMR) client. If you want to exchange other assets, you must rely on external web services, as Feather does not contain built-in swap scripts for other blockchains.
